JUROR: Megan Whitenton was born and raised in Houston, where she graduated from the Visual Art Department of HSPVA in 1997. She studied studio art, with a focus on painting, at San Francisco Art Institute for two years, and then moved to southern California, where she graduated with a BFA from California Institute of the Arts in 2001. Megan has participated in and curated countless shows for independent gallery spaces and burgeoning art organizations in Houston and California, including Over Here and New Image Art. In addition to organizing all visual art exhibitions for Café Brasil in Houston, Megan has also recently curated for the Community Artists’ Collective at Midtown Art Center. She has also served as Public Relations Captain for Peel Gallery Shop, as well as acting as an advisor to the organizer of Houston’s annual Five-A Citywide Exhibition in 2008. Megan will serve on the selection committee for the Art League Houston’s 2009 exhibition season in Houston and is a founding board member of ArtStorm, a collective art exhibition space started in October of 2007 by 8 ambitious working artists, at which she also serves as Director of Public Relations. Currently, she is Communications and Marketing Coordinator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
