Our Mission:
The purpose of the Visual Arts Alliance is to
further the cause and interest in art through teaching, programs,
demonstrations and exhibitions.
The Visual Arts Alliance was founded in 1981 in
Houston, Texas. We are a non-profit organization for serious
practitioners of the visual arts and interested members of the general
public.
The VAA holds monthly meetings where guest
speakers are presented to give a broader understanding of the
many aspects of the art world. Not only are new techniques
demonstrated, but an effort is made to help members with the business
side of their craft. Information is also made available on how
and where to enter competitive exhibitions throughout the country.
Each year the VAA holds a well publicized,
national, "open" juried exhibition where artists from all
over the United States are invited to compete. The Alliance also has an
annual "Members Only" exhibition. These exhibitions are held
in on-site corporate spaces in order to bring fine art into public
awareness.
To maximize self-reliance in funding, members pay
organizational dues, participants in member and open juried
competitions pay entry fees, and the group receives a donation from all
sales of work at Alliance exhibitions. Donations are also
received from corporate and individual sponsors.
